WATER-SOLUBLE POLYMER HAVING BIODEGRADABILITY, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antiscaling agent having an excellent antiscaling effect and gelation resistance in the presence of a high concentration of a calcium ion or a magnesium ion, excellent in dispersibility of silica and an iron oxide showing especially important action upon scale generation as well as in biodegradability. SOLUTION: The water-soluble polymer or its salt contains residues of the following three compounds as essential constitutional units: (a) a reactive polyether compound represented by general formula (I); (b) a reactive polyether compound represented by general formula (II); and (c) succinic anhydride. HO(XO)nR1(I) and R2O(XO)nR3(II) (wherein R1and R3are each a hydrocarbon group which may be same or different; R2is an alkenyl group; XO is an oxyalkylene group; and n is the number of average addition moles of the oxyalkylene group).
