PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device capable of detecting load quantity of record sheets and properly and stably recording without increasing costs. SOLUTION: This recording device comprises a pressure plate 21 for loading the record sheets, a feed roller 22 for feeding the record sheets loaded on the pressure plate 21, a carriage 50 loading a record head 7 for forming an image on the record sheet for moving in a direction crossing the carrying direction of the record sheet, and an HP sensor 51 arranged on the carriage 50 for detecting position of the carriage 50.
