PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a positioning device 34 of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: In this method, an electronic motor 30 for operating the positioning device 34 is provided. The positioning device 34 is ordered and is changed to an order position. Next, a control amount required for changing to the order position is detected. It is discriminated whether the control amount exceeds a threshold or not during a predetermined interval. When the control amount exceeds the threshold, the control amount is reduced. Respective complete stop positions are learned again every time a close stop position is ordered. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
