PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an oil control function of a side rail for a combination oil ring which is set to low tension. SOLUTION: A pair of edge surfaces (5) connected with side surfaces (2a, 2b) and a middle surface (6) formed between the pair of edge surfaces (5) are provided on an outer sliding surface (3) of the side rail constituting the combination oil ring. The axial width (h<SB>7</SB>) of the middle surface (6) corresponds to 30 to 70% of the rail width (h<SB>6</SB>). The pair of edge surfaces (5) formed as expanding surfaces by metal rolling, which is easy to ride on an oil film, smoothly slide on the side rail (1). The middle surface (6) formed as a cylindrical surface substantially formed at a fixed radius or an extremely minute protruding curved surface which slightly protrudes to the outside, efficiently removes the lubricating oil when the side rail (1) is not inclined, and forms the lubricating oil film with a required minimum thickness between the side rail (1) and an inner wall (17) of a cylinder (16).
