PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve shock absorber performance by suppressing fluctuation in generating damping force, in a shock absorber for generating damping force from friction between members. SOLUTION: The shock absorber 10 has a damping member 20 and a supporting spring 30. The damping member 20 comprises an outer member 21 and an inner member 22 both of rubber. The outer member 21 is formed into an endless belt. The inner member 22 is formed into a rectangular plate and arranged along an inner circumference of the outer member 21. When the supporting spring 30 extends and contracts, the outer member 21 and the inner member 22 slide on each other to generate damping force. Even when the outer member 21 flexes to a large extent, the inner member 22 is kept in close contact with the outer member 21. A constant contact area is thus kept between the outer member 21 and the inner member 22 to permit the damping member 20 to generate stable damping force. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
