PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a low printing speed due to the need of drastically returning a second label in the case a sensor for detecting the top end position of the second label is provided upstream of a printing head in a printing apparatus for printing on the second label after printing on a first label, conveying the same to a discharge opening and peeling off the label from the mount paper at the time of printing on each of a plurality of die-cut labels adhered on a lengthy ground paper by a certain pitch. SOLUTION: A sensor 52 for detecting the top end of the labels is provided downstream of a printing head such that the label top position can be detected halfway of returning an unprinted label to the printing head.
