Method and apparatus for moulding thermoplastics material articles, particularly for one-off or a limited series of prototypes, in which thermoplastic intermediates are mixed by motor driven paddles 25, 26 and rendered molten by heaters 33, 34 in two or more reservoirs and then propelled by piston and cylinder arrangements 36, 37, 38 and 39 to a position where they are mixed to form a mouldable polymer. This is dispensed into a rigid mould or a soft rubber mould 60, preferably under reduced pressure. Mixing and melting is done in a first compartment 2 and then admitted to a mould 60 in a second compartment 3 in which there is a reduced pressure provided by vacuum pump 9. <IMAGE> <IMAGE>
