VINYL POLYMERIZABLE MONOMER HAVING TERTIARY HYDROXYL GROUP AND ITS POLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vinyl polymerizable monomer which can produce a polymer having a moderate reactivity and hydrophilicity and to provide a polymer having a moderate reactivity and hydrophilicity.

SOLUTION: The vinyl polymerizable monomer is the one that has a vinyl polymerizable functional group and a tertiary hydroxyl group, represented by formula (I) [wherein X is a vinyl polymerizable functional group; R1and R2, which may be identical or different, are each a 1-4C alkyl group; R3is independently of each repeating unit a methyl group or a hydrogen atom; and m is an integer of 1-3]. The polymer having the tertiary hydroxyl group is also provided which is obtained by polymerizing the above monomer or the above monomer with other vinyl monomer(s).
