PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition, and a molding material that give molded articles, by the high productivity press curing process, not only indispensable properties such as strength and water resistance, but also a good texture and gloss, and have a markedly improved workability, and the molded articles obtained from the resin composition and the molding material. SOLUTION: The resin composition comprises (a) an unsaturated resin containing a carboxylic group, (c) a polymerizable unsaturated monomer, (d) an inorganic filler, and (e) a polymerization initiator. The unsaturated resin containing the carboxylic group is prepared by reacting at least part of the hydroxyl groups of an epoxy resin having unsaturated groups resulted from the reaction of the epoxy resin with an unsaturated monobasic acid.
