PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a plate glass with high-accuracy and effectively through preventing the occurance of striae and distortions and the volatilization loss of fluorine. SOLUTION: An apparatus for forming a plate glass by conveying molten glass flowing out of a melting furnace continuously on an endless belt and by processing the surface of the molten glass in a direction of the thickness through slidingly contacting with a plurality of rollers, measures the shape of the molten glass immediately after flowed out on the endless belt and by controlling the running speed of the endless belt on the basis of the measured data.
