PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range-finding device for camera capable of realizing accurate focusing regardless of the position of a subject in an image plane. SOLUTION: This range-finding device for camera is characterized in that image signals at a plurality of range-finding points in the image plane including the center of the image plane are detected, a focusing distance is measured by using output on image detection (5), and one part of the range-finding points is made ineffective according to the continuity of the distances of the respective range-finding points.
