PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink for a water-based ballpoint pen which gives an excellent feeling in writing therewith and contains a pearl pigment superior in antiprecipitation property. SOLUTION: The ink composition comprises a pearl pigment, a water-soluble organic solvent, and a viscosity increasing agent, and is characterized by containing hollow resin particles. The hollow resin particles include for example an acrylic-styrene copolymer, polyvinyl alcohol, polymethyl methacrylate, polyamide, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, or salts of these having a hollow polymer structure.
