PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and easily constitute a mechanism for making a sheet type pressing member come in contact with/separate from a fixing roller in a fixing device using the sheet type pressing member. SOLUTION: The sheet type pressing member 32 is provided in a cantilever supporting state on the upstream side of a recording paper transport direction relative to the fixing roller 31, is constituted of shape memory alloy, and is set in a state where it is separated from the roller 31 at ordinary temperature and at standby temperature. When the roller 31 is set at fixing feasible temperature, the member 32 is made to abut on the roller 31 by the deformation of the member 32. When the roller 31 is set at the ordinary temperature and the standby temperature from such a state, the member 32 is restored to an original state and separated from the roller 31.
