<p>A waste container for collecting recyclable materials such as glass or paper is provided with at least one level sensor to indicate when the container should be emptied. The level sensors 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d are photoelectric sensors and are connected to transmitter modules 5. The transmitter modules 5 telemetrically link the sensors to a modem 2 which sends data to a computer system 9. The modem may use a telephone network or email to communicate with computer system 9. The sensor periodically transmits a signal indicating the status of the container, which allows more efficient planning of emptying rounds.</p> |
