PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly, surely detect a p-aminophenol derivative contained in a sample solution in simple operation by using chemicals with high operability and high safety. SOLUTION: The p-aminophenol derivative is detected in such a way that it is decomposed under an acidic condition, and p-hydroxyaniline produced by decomposition is reacted with coloring matter selected from a group comprising phenol compounds (other than cresol) andα-phenol compounds under an alkaline condition to develop color.
