PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized inexpensive analyzing instrument. SOLUTION: This thermal lens analyzing instrument 1 is provided with an excitation laser 2 which emits excitation light, a chip 6 having a flow passage for supplying solution samples, and an SML lens 7 which focuses the excitation light upon a solution sample in the flow passage of the chip 6. This instrument 1 is also provided with a data processing system 10 which normally decides the optimum measurement data from acquired measurement data for analysis and a moving device which reciprocatively moves an X-stage 11 on which the chip 6 is placed in the horizontal direction and an Z-stage 12 which holds the SML lens 7 in the vertical direction. When the acquisition of a analytical data is decided, the data processing system 10 normally acquires the measurement data for analysis while the stages 11 and 12 are reciprocatively moved, and, at the same time, decides the measurement data having the maximum value from the measurement data which change as the stages 11 and 12.
