PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical seal device assuring certain sealing of a fluid to be sealed, allowing the gas contained in the sealed fluid to be collected, and capable of being mounted simply. SOLUTION: The end face 42 of a sleeve 40 is engaged with a step part 52 of a rotary shaft 50 located on the sealed fluid side of a stopping seal ring 3, and the inside diameter D of the end face 42 is formed greater than the inside diameter d of the sealed fluid pressure receiving peripheral surface of the back surface 5 of the seal ring 3.
