PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tumble-forward seat for a vehicle which has single-handle release functionality, which is economical and lightweight, and which is reliable in operation. SOLUTION: A mount 38 is mounted to a vehicle, defines a lateral axis and has a first portion 36 of an object mounted thereto, for pivotal movement of the object about the axis A to a design position, whereat the latch 42, which is connected to a second portion 50 of the object, selectively engages with the engaging member 44, which is mounted on the vehicle. A striker plate 48 presents a slot and a pair of contiguous sockets are arranged on opposite longitudinal sides of the slot. A striker pin 46 is connected to a second portion 50 and travels into the slot to a closed end of the slot during movement of the object to its design position. The sockets permit, through deformation of the object, longitudinal movement of the pin thereinto to a rearward limit position and a frontward limit position, respectively. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
