The invention relates to, among other things, a terminal for use with a data and/or communications network, e.g. with a mobile radiotelephone network, of a data and/or communications system, which comprises a transmitting device, e.g. a mobile radiotelephone, for receiving and/or transmitting data and/or signals out of and/or into the network and comprises a computer unit that is independent of the transmitting device. Said computer unit is at least occasionally connected to the transmitting device and comprises a processor unit, an interface to the transmitting device, and means, which are provided for reading out network parameters concerning the transmitting device that are used for localizing the transmitting device. Said means are also provided for determining the current location of the transmitting device. This enables a terminal to be localized independent from the system provider of the data and/or communications system. |
