FIBER FOR LIGHT SIGNAL ATTENUATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber for light signal attenuation which enables fusion splicing connection and connector fitting with good operability even in a field where attenuation level adjustment is made.

SOLUTION: The fiber 1 for light signal attenuation having a core 2 to which a dopant attenuating a light signal is added has its clad 3 coated with a non-peeling high-strength resin thin-film layer 4. Further, its outer circumference is coated with a primary coating layer 5 and a secondary coating layer 6 to form a resin coating layer 7. At least one of those layers is colored or a colored layer is provided on the surface of each coating layer. The surface of one of the coating layers is given a marking 8. The marking 8 displays a fiber length or an attenuation quantity.
