<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-modified inorganic oxide powder which is most suitable as a toner additive for electrophotography. <P>SOLUTION: The surface-modified inorganic oxide powder is a composite inorganic oxide obtained by the unification of silica and alumina, wherein 50% or more of the alumina is crystallized and surface-modified with a hydrophobizing agent. The powder has preferably a friction charge of -500μC/g or less, a specific volume resistivity of 10<SP>16</SP>Ωcm or less, a hydrophobization of 50% or more, and a charge environmental variation ratio of 0.6 or more so that it may have adequate charging property, good hydrophobicity and excellent environmental stability of charge. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
