PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device improving the travel characteristic of a vehicle by reducing the length of a wire harness. SOLUTION: A forward acceleration sensor 9a and a backward acceleration sensor 9b are placed on a board 7 on which a controller 8 is placed. A desired damping force is produced in a damping force adjusting mechanism of a shock absorber (actuator) according to a pitch rate obtainable from acceleration signals detected by the sensors 9a and 9b. This controls the pitch of the vehicle while securing driving stability and riding comfort (traveling characteristic). The sensors 9a and 9b and the controller 8 can be connected to one another over a short distance within the area of the board 7. A connecting member for connecting the sensors to the controller is shorter than with conventional techniques, resulting in weight reduction, decreased resistance value, voltage drop, and reduction of energy losses.
