Apparatus for automatically coating granular material comprises a hopper 6, a feed device and a device 19a which coats the granular material as it falls into weighing apparatus 21. A predetermined amount of the material is then delivered to a feeding station 28. The apparatus may include nozzles for spraying a nutritional molasses based liquid onto a whole grain material to be supplied to chickens as an alternative to a manufactured foodstuff. The weighing apparatus may comprise a weighing bucket 21 which may receive manufactured feed supplied from a first hopper 1 or grain supplied from a second hopper 6 and coated with the liquid pumped from a container 11. The weighed foodstuff may then be supplied to a feed building 25 via a third hopper 23. The foodstuffs may be delivered using motors and centreless augers inside supply ducts.
