<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of realizing accurate braking control without causing delay in the rotational load fluctuation of a photoreceptor at the time of performing image forming operation. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is provided with an image carrier 1, an electrifier 3 uniformly electrifying the surface of the image carrier, an exposure device 4 forming an electrostatic latent image by irradiating the photoreceptor with light, a developing device 5 developing the electrostatic latent image based on the gradation information of image data, a transfer device 8 transferring the electrostatic latent image on the image carrier to transfer paper, a motor for driving and rotating the image carrier, a brake 19 generating load on the rotation of the image carrier, and a braking means for controlling the brake. The apparatus is equipped with a rotational load measuring means 20 for measuring the rotational load of the image carrier at the time of rotating the image carrier and a re-writable storage means 31 for storing the value of the rotational load measured by the rotational load measuring means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
