<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalytic body which exhibits high activity upon irradiation with visible light, a method for manufacturing the same, and to obtain a photocatalytic body coating agent obtained by using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The photocatalytic body has iron oxides (such as FeO, Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, Fe<SB>3</SB>O<SB>4</SB>and FeTiO<SB>3</SB>) on the surface of anatase-type titanium dioxide as a substrate and has ≥55 m<SP>2</SP>/g BET specific surface area. In the method for manufacturing the photocatalytic body, an aqueous solution of a titanium compound is reacted with a base at ≤60°C, the resulting product is fired to obtain titanium oxide, this titanium oxide is brought into contact with a solution or slurry of an iron compound (such as iron (III) nitrate, iron (II) sulfate, iron (III) sulfate, ammonium iron oxalate, iron (II) chloride or iron (III) chloride) and it is heated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
