PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat panel large in size and reduced in thickness, excellent in mechanical strength, dimensional stability and optical uniformity and suitable as a diffusion panel, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The flat panel is manufactured through a preheating process (1) for preheating two upper and lower molds to a predetermined temperature, a resin melting process (2) for melting a resin composition which contains a thermoplastic resin with a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 15,000-500,000, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 4 or less and a melt flow rate at 280°C under a load of 2.16 kgf of 5-250 g/10 min and a filler in a heating cylinder, a molten resin supply process (3) for supplying the molten resin to the surface of the lower mold cavity of a press molding machine from the discharge port of the heating cylinder to form a molten resin lump coming into contact with 20% or more of the main plane area of a cavity, a press process (4) for pressing the molten resin lump at a predetermined temperature, and a cooling process (5) for cooling the resin lump after pressing.
