PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a lightweight electric vacuum cleaner being excellent in suction power and requiring small power input. SOLUTION: The electric vacuum cleaner comprises a main body 13 involving the compressor or the blower 11 for sucking and the suction opening 16 in communication with a suction part of the compressor or the blower, intermittently receiving energy from a power source to intermittently operate the blower or compressor and sucking. Thereby, the cleaner in which the average power input can be reduced without lowering internal pressure of the suction opening, and which is excellent in the suction power and requiring the small power input is realized.
