PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recorder which can obtain a good printing quality by preventing ink bubbles and a high-viscosity liquid ink from remaining inside a cap body of a cleaning unit. SOLUTION: The ink-jet recorder is provided with a recording head 2 having a nozzle opening 14 set at a nozzle plate 19, and the cleaning unit 4 which seals the nozzle plate 19 by the cap body 32 and sucks the ink out from the nozzle, opening 14 by the action of a negative pressure. A moving means E is set for changing the position of the cleaning unit 4 in response to the movement of the recording head 2. The cleaning unit is moved by the moving means E to a cleaning action position where the nozzle plate 19 is sealed and a cleaning position where the inside of the cap body 32 is cleaned by a cleaner element 56 waiting at a predetermined point. Accordingly, ink bubbles and the high- viscosity ink are prevented from remaining in a liquid state in the cap body 32. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
