PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an abnormal vibration condition from continuing for a long period of time and to make a correction of laundry imbalance in a washing /spin-drying tub if a safety switch does not work and large vibration happens in a washing machine which carries out vibration judgment by laundry imbal ance when the washing/spin-drying tub is driven to rotate. SOLUTION: An agitator is rotatably installed in a washing/spin-drying tub which is rotatably installed in a water-receiving tub. The washing/spin-drying tub or the agitator is driven by a motor 14. Water is supplied to the washing/ spin-drying tub through a water-supplying valve 10. The output signals from a current detection means 26 detecting the current when the motor 14 is driven and from a rotation rate detection means detecting the rotation rate of the motor 14 are inputted to a control means 18 controlling the operation of the motor 14 or the like. If the current detected by the current detection means 26 becomes equal to or larger than a predetermined value when the washing/ spin-drying tub is driven to a roughly steady rotation for spin-drying, the control means 18 transfers the operation to a correction sequence.
