PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pair of scissors capable of unfailingly cutting even fiber or thread type matters which are soft and slippery. SOLUTION: The pair of scissors comprise scissoring portions 4, which are constituted by forming cutting edges 3 at the confronting edges of tip end portions of blades 1 pivoted at the portions thereof where they overlap with each other in such a way as to be openable or closable around a pivot 2, wherein at least one of the counterposed scissoring portions 4 comprises a retaining portion 6 provided along the cutting edge 3 thereof for preventing an object 5 to be cut from sliding along the same.
