PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water making apparatus 6 for making water by distilling seawater at a low cost. SOLUTION: In the water making apparatus 6, seawater is heated by utilizing solar heat by a solar radiation heating means 3 and the heated seawater is subsequently evaporated in a cooling column 4 while evaporated steam is condensed by a heat exchanger 5 to make distilled water WS. The power required in the making of water is the power of an intake pump 2 and the air sending power of the cooling column 4 and natural energy is maximally utilized to obtain distilled water by extremely reduced power.
