PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a complex carbohydrate useful for the phylaxis to bacteria, viruses, etc., the adaptation and immunotherapy for cardiovascular disorder, etc., and provide a method for producing a sugar nucleotide important as a synthetic substrate for the complex carbohydrate in high efficiency at a low cost. SOLUTION: The method for producing a sugar nucleotide comprises the use of (a) a cultured liquid of microorganisms capable of producing NTP from a precursor of a nucleotide or a treated product of the cultured liquid and (b) a cultured liquid of microorganisms capable of producing a sugar nucleotide from a sugar and NTP or a treated product of the cultured liquid as an enzyme source. The method for producing a complex carbohydrate comprises the use of the components (a) and (b) together with (c) a cultured liquid of microorganisms, animal cells or insect cells capable of producing a complex carbohydrate from a sugar nucleotide and a complex carbohydrate precursor or a treated product of the cultured liquid as an enzyme source.
