METHOD FOR TREATING WASTEWATER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating wastewater which efficiently reduces COD contained in the wastewater obtained by washing the incineration ash of general wastes or industrial wastes with a simple means. SOLUTION: The wastewater obtained from the washing of incineration ash through washing with water is treated by adjusting pH to 6 or less and setting the effective chlorine molar concentration of 1-10 times of the CODMnconcentration of the wastewater. When the incineration ash is fly ash, it is preferably treated at 300-450°C under nonoxygen atmosphere before washing by water. An insoluble substance deposited in a process in which the wastewater is adjusted to pH of 6 or less is preferably separated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
