PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recorder and a method for replacing ink containers in which a good printing quality is obtained by preventing ink before being replaced from remaining in an ink path when the ink container is separated to replace the ink with a different kind of ink. SOLUTION: When replacing ink containers 1, a switching valve 41 communicating with the ink container 1 to be replaced is brought into an open state, and a switching valve 41 communicating with the ink container 1 not to be replaced correspondingly to the open state is turned into a shut state. A fluid for cleaning is sent to the ink path 28A in the open state. The remaining ink before being replaced is perfectly cleaned and removed in this manner. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
