PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary toy which can be independently enjoyably rotated, has an unexpectedness in its rotating operation and provides an amusement that cannot be enjoyed in a conventional top. SOLUTION: A main rotary body 1 has a hollow casing 13 and a flywheel 10 disposed in the casing 13 to freely rotate and having a lower end of a shaft body 20 protruding downward from the lower surface of the casing 13. On the center of the upper surface of the casing 13, a holding part 11 for holding a shaft body 2a of an auxiliary rotary body 2 is provided. In the holding part 11, an engaging part 42 engaging with the lower end of the shaft body 2a of the auxiliary rotary body 2 is provided so as to vertically movable. The engaging body 42 is constantly urged upward by a spring 43. In the lower part of the holding part 11, an engaging member 27 engaging with the engaging body 42 when the engaging body is pressed down is disposed. When the engaging member 27 is moved outward by a centrifugal force, the engaging body 42 is disengaged and the auxiliary rotary body 2 is urged to spring upward by the spring 43.
