PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating and drying apparatus which gives a high speed, high image quality and high durability electrophotographic device by uniformly vaporizing a solvent contained in a coating liquid and drying the coating liquid to continuously form a charge transfer layer of a photoreceptor drum of the electrophotographic device which has uniform film thickness and excellent surface, and to provide a coating and drying method. SOLUTION: In the coating and drying apparatus in which a coating film is formed and is passed through a cylindrical drying hood to dry the coating film, slits for vaporizing the solvent contained in the coating liquid are formed on the cylindrical drying hood.
