PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hygienic shower toilet apparatus which can prevent a gear part having a weak strength from being broken when a sudden external force is applied while the seat or cover is automatically opened or closed. SOLUTION: A driving apparatus 4 comprises a control apparatus 26 which controls the opening and closing drive of a seat 24 or a cover 23, a driving motor 45 which receives a signal from the control apparatus 26 and is electrically driven, a transmission means 46 which transmits the power from the driving motor 45 to output shafts 433 and 423 of the seat 24 or the cover 23, the output shafts 433 and 423 which receive the power from transmission means 46 and drive the opening and closing of the seat 24 or the cover 23, and elastic members 432 and 422 which are placed between the transmission means 46 and the output shaft 433 and 423. With this constitution, a sudden torque by an external force is temporary stored in the elastic members 432 and 422 and therefore the breakage of the transmission means 46 or the like can be prevented.
