POLYMORPHIC VARIABLE NUMBER TANDEM REPEATS(VNTRS) OF HUMAN TELOMERASE GENE AND METHODS FOR DNA TYPING AND DETECTING TELOMERASE-RELATED DISEASES USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: Polymorphic variable number tandem repeats(VNTRs) of a human telomerase gene and methods for DNA typing and detecting telomerase-related diseases using the same are provided. CONSTITUTION: Polymorphic human telomerase reverse transcriptase-variable number tandem repeat (hTERT-VNTR) 6-1 in the intron 6 region of hTERT gene contains the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1. A primer set for detecting polymorphic hTERT-VNTR 2-1 in the intron 2 region of hTERT gene contains the nucleotide sequences of SEQ ID NOs: 2 and 3. A primer set for detecting polymorphic hTERT-VNTR 2-2 in the intron 2 region of hTERT gene contains the nucleotide sequences of SEQ ID NOs: 4 and 5. A primer set for detecting polymorphic hTERT-VNTR 6-1 in the intron 6 region of hTERT gene contains the nucleotide sequences of SEQ ID NOs: 6 and 7. A primer set for detecting polymorphic hTERT-VNTR 6-2 in the intron 6 region of hTERT gene contains the nucleotide sequences of SEQ ID NOs: 8 and 9. A method for DNA typing of mammals except human comprises the steps of: extracting genomic DNA from the tissue of mammals; PCR amplifying the extracted genomic DNA as a template and one of the primer sets; separating the PCR product by electrophoresis; and identifying the separated PCR product among polymorphic hTERT-VNTRs consisting of hTERT-VNTR 2-1, hTERT-VNTR 2-2, hTERT-VNTR 6-1 and hTERT-VNTR 6-2.
