PURPOSE: A communication port device with in a system and an operating method therefor are provided to integratively operate serial communication ports by composing an integrated communication port in a backboard of a communication system. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of processor boards(220) are installed in slots of a backboard(210), for exchanging signals with the backboards(210) and mutually exchanging signals through the backboard(210). A terminal(230) connects to each processor board(220), and performs a data communication. An integrated communication port(212) is composed at a rear surface of the backboard(210), for communicating with an external equipment. A PLD(Programmable Logic Device)(211) selectively forms a data transmission path between each processor board(220) and the integrated communication port(212).
