PURPOSE: A wireless network monitoring apparatus and method of a wireless communication system are provided to effective perform a network operation function and protocol monitoring function by monitoring every unit of a UTRAN(UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) Terrestrial Radio Access Network). CONSTITUTION: A main processor(45) processes addresses of destinations for each unit of a unit processor(48) by constructing a VP/VC(Virtual Path/Virtual Connection) table allocated by an intercommunication with UTRAN in an initial driving, generates a control signal to control the unit processor(48), analyzes a message received through a message transmitter(32), re-combines the message information in a form recognizable by UTRAN, and processes it. An optical input/output processor(47) transfers a message received from outside to an input/output distributor(46). The input/output distributor(46) analyzes the message information received through the optical input/output processor(47) to recognize a VP/VC, compares it with the VP/VC table to detect a destination of a corresponding unit, and dispatches it to each unit processor(41-44) according to a destination of the corresponding unit to process the message. The unit processor(48) processes each unit information according to the information received through the input/output distributor(46), and performs a monitoring function.
