PURPOSE: A charge control method of a battery for the mobile phone having a charger is provided to shorten a charge period by adjusting an input current to maintain a constant voltage between both terminals of a battery cell considering the voltage drop of a battery protective circuit in a constant mode charge of a battery. CONSTITUTION: First, a battery is charged in a constant voltage mode if a battery voltage is lifted by a predetermined level after the battery is charged in a constant current charge mode. Then, the charge current and charge voltage are sensed when being charged in the constant voltage mode. Next, the sensed charge voltage and a calculated reference voltage are compared. Then, as the comparison result, a current controller is controlled to decrease the current when the charge voltage is greater than the reference voltage, and vice verse.
