PURPOSE: A method for preparing a nanocomposite material by using ultrasonic wave is provided, to improve the dispersibility of a clay component by allowing clay to be dispersed in a polymer matrix uniformly. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the step of applying ultrasonic wave to a mixture comprising the clay having the lamellar structure and a monomer polymerizable by radical polymerization, to polymerize the monomer. Preferably the clay has a middle layer which is a montmorillonite substituted with an alkyl ammonium or alkyl phosphonium cation; and the monomer is selected from the group consisting of styrene, α-methylstyrene, p-methylstyrene, acrylonitrile, ethacrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile, methyl methacrylate and glycidyl methacrylate. Preferably a nanocomposite material is prepared by melt mixing a polymer matrix comprising the obtained nanocomposite material and an identical or different polymer matrix in an ultrasonicated mixer.
