METHOD FOR FABRICATING DEVICE HAVING PLANAR WAVEGUIDE

PURPOSE: A method for fabricating a device having a planar waveguide is provided, which controls output characteristics of a planar waveguide optical device by thermal diffusion whose path difference is fixed in advance. CONSTITUTION: According to the method, an optical device having a planar waveguide, which controls output characteristics by thermally treating more than two planar waveguides. The above output characteristics is controlled by changing at least one of a separation distance between two waveguides, density, refractive index, area and path difference by the thermal treatment.
