PURPOSE: A method for processing state information of an SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) agent is provided to read a configuration information file when initializing a proxy agent, thereby maintaining the coincided state information after the SNMP agent is restarted. CONSTITUTION: When an SNMP proxy agent is initialized, the SNMP proxy agent reads an initialization information file(S31-S32). The SNMP proxy agent writes an MIB(Management Information Base) database on the basis of the configuration information read from the initialization information file(S33). The SNMP proxy agent discriminates whether an interface is disconnected with a management object NE(S34). In a state that the interface is disconnected with a management object NE, when there is a request of an SNMP manager, the SNMP proxy agent transmits the request to the MIB database(S35-S36). The MIB database processes the request according to the basic configuration information, then produces a response and transmits the response to the SNMP proxy agent. Then the SNMP proxy agent transmits the received response to the SNMP manager(S37-S38).
