PURPOSE: A multi-functional humidifier selectively using distilled water and silver solution and a method of the same are provided to allow silver-humidification using normal water. CONSTITUTION: A humidifier includes a distilled water generating unit including a heating part having a heater built therein to heat normal water, and a cooling part cooling vaporized steam; a silver solution generating unit electrolyzing a silver rod or a silver plate by alternately impressing power to the silver rod or the silver plate in distilled water generated by the distilled water generating unit; and a silver-humidification generating unit(90) atomizing silver solution generated by the silver solution generating unit to spray. Water in a reservoir barrel is heated to generate steam. Steam passes a radiator(20) to be cooled down by a cooling fan(30) to generate distilled water. The distilled water passes a filter(40) and used in the silver solution generating unit to generate silver solution. The silver solution is supplied to the silver-humidification generating unit to be atomized by an ultrasonic oscillator and to be discharged to the outside.
