FILTER AND METHOD FOR REMOVING DOT PATTERN

PURPOSE: A filter and method for removing a dot pattern are provided to eliminate a dot pattern generated at the boundary of decoded NTSC color TV signals. CONSTITUTION: A dot pattern removing filter includes an NTSC decoder(410) and a noise reduction device(430). The NTSC decoder removes a dot pattern included in an NTSC composite video signal and decodes component video signals according to NTSC decoding. The noise reduction device removes interference noise included in the composite video signal decoded by the NTSC decoder. The noise reduction device controls a weight according to detection of a transition region of a color difference signal and detection of a dot pattern for luminance signal to adjust a cutoff frequency for vertical/horizontal low pass filtering to reduce the dot pattern in the luminance signal.
