PURPOSE: An extendable multiprocessing system and a method for copying a memory thereof are provided to share and use a PCI(Peripheral Component Interconnect) bus for communication between processors without implementing an additional bus for copying a memory. CONSTITUTION: Duplex PCI-to-PCI bridges(27,28) transmit data being transmitted from an active processor module to a memory of an inactive processor module and execute memory duplication. Duplex memory duplication engines(29,30) sense a memory of an active processor module, judge a duplication of data, and transmit data to be duplicated to the PCI-to-PCI bridges(27,28). The PCI-to-PCI bridges(27,28) supply a DMA(Direct Memory Access) engine for communication between two processor modules, executing memory duplication by transmitting data being transmitted from the active memory duplication engine to the memory of the inactive processor module, checking identity of corresponding copied memory contents with the original memory contents, and executing a memory duplication with respect to a predetermined area of the memory.
