PURPOSE: A folder type mobile terminal is provided to restrain a folder from being shaken over an external force and thus prevent the damage to a hinge unit or a hinge over an external force by forming a guard frame along an upper surface edge of a terminal body. CONSTITUTION: A folder type terminal includes a main body(210), a folder(250) and a guard frame(231). The main body(210) includes a key pad(211), a transmitting unit having a microphone, and an interface connector(213) formed at a lower surface(217c). The folder(250) includes an LCD(251) formed at a side facing the main body(210) and displaying data such as state information of the terminal, and a receiving unit(253) formed at one side of the LCD(251) and having a speaker inserted therein. A center hinge arm(215) and side hinge arms(255a,255b) allow the folder(250) to be in a closed state within a certain angle range by a hinge unit, and if the folder(250) goes beyond the certain angle range, the folder is maintained in an opening state. The guard frame(231) is formed protruded higher than an upper surface of the main body(210) from both sides(217a,217b) and a lower side(217c) along an upper surface edge of the main body(210), and accordingly, a receiving space(233) is formed at the inner side of the guard frame(231) on the upper surface of the main body(210). When the folder(250) is closed, it is positioned and restricted in the receiving space(233), so that the folder(250) is protected from an external force applied in other direction than its rotational direction. The guard frame(231) is protruded so high as not to exceed a thickness of the folder(250).
