<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar lighting device and a liquid crystal display device capable of a bright illumination with an effective use of light irradiated from a light-emitting element. <P>SOLUTION: With the planar lighting device provided with a light guide body 53 equipped with light-emitting units C and a light guide plate 52 in which light emitted from the light-emitting units is guided to the light guide plate through the light guide body and is emitted from a light-emitting face of the light guide plate, the light-emitting unit is so structured that a positive electrode side and a negative electrode side lead frames are fitted to a fitting body with a bottom part and a wall part so as to be separate from each other and individually in contact with the bottom part, of which, one lead frame is fitted with a light-emitting element whose one electrode is electrically connected and the other lead frame is electrically connected to the other electrode of the light- emitting element, while a lens part condensing light emitted from the light- emitting element is formed at a top part of the fitting body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
