PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery in which the possibility of thermal shrinkage of a separator is precluded by spot-welding a current collecting connector and a plurality of sheets of aluminum foil of positive electrode or a plurality of sheets of copper foil of negative electrode together with a low conductivity welding metal plate or welding metal layer, and the aluminum foil of positive electrode or the copper foil of negative electrode can be welded surely to the current collecting connector. SOLUTION: A plurality of sheets of aluminum foil of a positive electrode 1a or a plurality of sheets of copper foil of a negative electrode 1b projecting from the end face of a power generating element 1 are laid on current collecting connectors 2 and 3 composed of an aluminum plate or a copper plate connected with terminals of the positive and negative electrodes together with a welding metal plate 5 having conductivity lower than those of the current collecting connectors 2 and 3 and then the current collecting connectors 2 and 3 and the aluminum foils or copper foils are spot-welded. Furthermore, the plurality of sheets of aluminum foil of the positive electrode 1a or the plurality of sheets of copper foil of the negative electrode 1b are spot-welded to the current collecting connector 2.
